Eurotech Racing confirm they are to run Matt Simpson for the 2018 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, fielding a three car strong line-up of Honda Civic Type R’s.
Former Hot Rod European Champion Simpson returns to the Championship for his third consecutive season in the Simpson Exhausts/Simpson Recycling sponsored Type R; ‘I am really pleased to be competing in the BTCC for another year and excited to be running with Eurotech Racing, we have much in common and have been impressed with their achievements this season, we all want to win and are confident that with this partnership 2018 will be our best season yet’.
For Eurotech Racing, runners up in the 2017 Independent Teams Championship, running Simpson was a perfect fit to expand the team back to three cars. Team Principal Jeff Smith explained ‘We kept the core team and infrastructure in place to field three cars as it has always been our intention to revert to three cars when the right opportunity came along. Matt currently owning a Type R works perfectly, our mechanics already have the car back at the workshop, stripped down and being updated to the same spec as our existing two Type R’s. We are looking forward to working with Matt, he has proved to be a capable driver in BTCC, using our knowledge and experience we will be doing all we can to develop him, the aim being to have all three cars at the sharp end. Having the drive confirmed at this relatively early stage allows us to press on with the car build and plan a full test schedule, with the intention of hitting the ground running for the 2018 season.’
